Dr. Tang's whirlwind tour of London, NYC, and the Philly area - and BOOK TOUR news!
I'm taking all the planes and trains to bring IT'S NOT HYSTERIA to you!
If I look mildly sleep-deprived and/or haggard in this photo, it’s because I’ve been in multiple cities and continents in the past few weeks! Read on for photos of my travels, and lists of where to find SIGNED COPIES of IT’S NOT HYSTERIA - or if you just want to learn about upcoming book tour stops, skip to the end of this newsletter!

I went to England - partly for vacation, and partly to meet with my UK publishing team and booksellers in London and Bath. It was a glorious time, and I was also able to hang out with friends and fellow healthcare “influencers,” Lavina Mehta and Drs. Nighat Arif and Aziza Sesay! They put me to shame in terms of content creation - definitely give them a follow if you haven’t already!
Being an American, and not as well-known over in the UK, I wasn’t expecting much in terms of finding my book in bookshops there… But I was absolutely thrilled to find multiple copies of IT’S NOT HYSTERIA in the larger Waterstones and Foyles, a few copies at most Waterstones in London and Bath, and a whole *stack* of copies at an incredible independent bookstore called Round Table Books!
I wanted to give a special shout-out to Round Table Books - which is a woman-owned shop that focuses on uplifting underrepresented voices: people of color, LGBTQIA+, and disabled authors. They’re extremely active in terms of putting on author events and engaging with their community locally and across all of London. The store is also located in an incredible neighborhood, Brixton, which reminds me of Queens, NY - shops, restaurants, market stands representing a vast array of countries, cultures, and religions. If you’re in London, definitely plan to stop here for lunch, shopping, and a trip to the bookstore! I spoke with one of the co-directors, Meera, for a long time about their mission, and how we need to plan an author event the next time I’m in London. I wrote the “special” dedication in every single one of the books at Round Table, because honestly - F the patriarchy!

Then we took a jaunt over to Bath, which is one of my favorite places in the world. I indulged my inner Jane Austen fan, and even got the costumed interpreters at the Jane Austen Center to join me for my attempt at the “very demure, very mindful” trend - how could I resist? ;)
In England I left signed copies of IT’S NOT HYSTERIA at all the following bookshops, with “special” dedications at the locations with an asterisk *. Many of these shops only had a single copy left, so call before going to see if the signed copies are still available!
* Round Table Books
* Waterstones Piccadilly
* Foyles Charing Cross
* Waterstones Covent Garden
Waterstones Tottenham Court Road
Waterstones Trafalgar Square
Hatchards Piccadilly
Waterstones Bath
Then it was back to the US - I went pretty much immediately to NYC to record two podcasts (Pregnantish, and Awf the Record)! Awf the Record’s two hosts, Mona Kosar Abdi and Jeannette Reyes are professional news reporters, so that podcast recording was in a legit recording studio. Both podcast recordings were fantastic, stay tuned!

Of course, I ran around to as many bookstores as I could during this quick trip, and left signed copies at:
* Books are Magic (Smith St location) in Brooklyn
* Shakespeare and Co (Lexington location)
* Barnes and Noble (Union Square location)
Finally, back to the Philly suburbs, just in time for the Philly Book Crawl! This was an incredible celebration of all the wonderful indie bookstores in the Philly metro area. I did a signing at Mavey Books in Ardmore, which is a woman-owned bookshop that is absolutely lovely. And they ship within the US! So if you want to get signed copies of INH but can’t get to one of these locations or a book event, give Mavey Books or Doylestown Bookshop a call! They both have lots of signed copies, and will ship to you.
Signed copies in the Philly area:
* Mavey Books
* Doylestown Bookstore
* Narberth Bookshop
Main Point Books
Harriett’s Bookshop
Random Barnes and Nobles from a while ago that I’ve lost track of, but call and see if they still have signed copies left!

Finally, I’m incredibly honored to announce that I’ve joined the Katie Couric Media team as a healthcare expert! This means that I’ll be sharing videos and written pieces about reproductive health that will be shared on Katie’s newsletters, Wake-Up Call, and Body and Soul, allowing me to reach her incredible community of over a million subscribers - which is just phenomenal.
If you didn’t already read and share my latest piece for KCM about the reproductive rights issues at stake in the November election (and how they impact ALL of us, beyond “just” the debate about abortion) - please do! This is probably one of the most important pieces I’ll ever write. And remember to REGISTER TO VOTE (and remind your friends and family!)
Read the article - and please SHARE!
p.s. A special thank-you to those who have signed up for paid subscriptions for this newsletter! As with all of my social media content, I write and produce this newsletter solo, on my own time, without a team, so it’s much quieter than many newsletters which are put together by professional assistants.
The paid subscriptions help to take the edge off of all of the hundreds (!) of unpaid hours that I spend creating social media content for free every year - and to thank you, I wasn’t kidding when I said that I’d hold regular Zoom chats with paid subscribers! I’ll send out a message soon to get a sense of people’s availability, and then we can plan our first Zoom chat!
And I’m open to other ideas for bonuses and thank-yous for paid subscribers I’d prefer not to keep content behind a paywall, but would rather offer some additional perks. What do you suggest?
